Randy’s Wing Bar have brought the authentic taste of America to London with their range of wings, burgers and loaded fries. With great service, affordable prices and unbelievable flavours, you’ll struggle to find anywhere better in London to get your chicken fix.
Located in Hackney Wick’s Here East complex, Randy’s is off the beaten track and the perfect destination for a chilled summer’s evening. Part of a canal-side stretch of restaurants and with no car or bus in sight, it’s nice to be away from the hubbub of the city, yet still just a short walk from Hackney Wick Overground station. The atmosphere is welcoming, with a good amount of outdoor seating – if you’re graced with better weather than we were!
You can’t visit Randy’s Wing Bar without trying the award-winning wings, so we opted for two of their most popular flavours: classic Buffalo with a drizzle of truffle blue cheese, and Gangnam – Korean inspired wings flavoured with a sweet and sticky sauce, and topped with peanuts, sesame seeds and jalapenos. You can’t go wrong with authentic Buffalo wings, and they were perfect – juicy and bursting with flavour, finished off perfectly with the hint of blue cheese. They had a kick but not so much that I was reaching for a glass of milk (admittedly I wasn’t brave enough to try the Extra Hot Buffalo wings!) The standout dish of the evening, though, has to be the Gangnam wings. Smothered in delicious sauce yet somehow still crispy, these wings with an Asian twist will definitely be on the cards again next time.
To accompany the wings, we went all out with BBQ Bacon Fries – a generous plate of fries topped with BBQ sauce, bacon dust, chipotle mayo and pickled onions. Other loaded fries options include Gravy Train (chicken gravy and cheese) and Loco (hot sauce, corn, truffle aioli). If traditional fries are more your thing, they also offer both standard and sweet potato options. The portion sizes are very generous (especially given the reasonable prices), and two plates of wings with a shared loaded fries made for 2 very full and satisfied customers!
Aside from the vast wing selection, Randy’s offers a range of chicken burgers inspired by flavours from around the globe including Randy’s Signature American, Randy’s Korean and Randy’s Argie Bhaji. The cocktail list is extensive (be sure to try the truly delicious Long Island Iced Tea) as well as the range of beers, wine and soft drinks. Randy’s range of authentic American milkshakes are a must – the Chocolate Oreo shake made for the perfect dessert to round off dinner.
Randy’s Wing Bar is full of friendly staff and good vibes. It has cool industrial décor with wooden tables and benches and massive doors that open up fully to the tables outside. The food was a triumph, and if you’re looking for proper American-style wings for very reasonable prices, Randy’s is your place. They have a lot of promotional offers that are worth checking before you visit, like All You Can Eat Wings on a Monday, or a free beer with any burger on a Friday.
