Right at the heart of the Dorset countryside sits the beautiful village of Cranborne. With the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coastline just a drive away and the New Forest National Park even closer, Cranborne is the perfect base from which to explore and La Fosse offers quirky and comfortable accommodation to suit your needs.
Six unique bedrooms with spacious beds (although not always the case in a ‘double’ room), cosy living spaces, open fires and a well-stocked bar, all make for a relaxing stay. As a nod to La Fosse’s award-winning cheese board, each room is named after a local cheese and The Old Winchester Suite features a separate living room that can be turned into a bedroom for children if required.
Sympathetically refurbished, each bedroom includes modern touches such as Cowshed products in the bathroom, luxury hot drink making facilities and a guest fridge with fresh milk and chilled water. Whether you’ve returned from a hearty countryside hike or a trip to the coast, you can leave your boots on the rack at the door and relax.
Quirky touches make La Fosse really stand out. Using pre-printed order cards, you make your breakfast choices the night before, select a time and wander down in the morning to find a beautifully laid out, private table, complete with your own toaster and brewing tea. Attentive staff deliver table service meaning the local artisan bread and superior English breakfast (should you choose that option) are fresh and hot.
Run by husband-and-wife team Mark and Emmanuelle, thought has clearly been given to the food sourcing ethos in both the restaurant and B&B. An emphasis on using fresh, seasonal, free-range and local produce where possible is reflected in the breakfast, a la carte and tasting menus which are packed with flavour and change on regular basis, making the 20-seater restaurant attractive to locals and visitors alike.
Surely one of the biggest advantages of La Fosse though, is that the house is available for full takeovers. Whether you’re looking for a party with a difference, a special family get-together or corporate getaway, each takeover is entirely unique and can be tailored to fit you needs – including the option to be catered or self-catered.
There’s even a Scandinavian BBQ Hut in the garden (minimum of 8, maximum of 12 guests) – think ski chalet vibes surrounded by the beautiful British countryside with meats cooked to your liking and a full wine and bar list. Blessed with very little light pollution, it’s the ideal setting to watch the stars and chat into the night.
The B&B seems to feel further off the beaten track than it actually is, so whether you’re after a rural getaway or a home away from home, La Fosse at Cranborne has the flexibility and flavour to make your stay a memorable one. Oh, and if you’re into sustainable credentials, word is an electric car charger is about to be installed on The Square right opposite the front door! Perfect.
