When you want all the comforts of home, but you’re staying in the capital, Dao by Dorsett West London is a superb option for luxurious serviced apartment living.
Dao by Dorsett West London on Shepherd’s Bush Green is an addition to the Dorsett Hotel, sharing the same stunning lobby with check-in desks side by side for the main hotel or the apartments.
The Dao by Dorsett apartments themselves have nine room grades ranging from the 74 sq m two bed, as well as studios, one beds and terraces with some overlooking the park. My premium one bedroom apartment was wonderfully spacious with a full size kitchen, lounging area with huge smart TV, and then a separate double bedroom with large bathroom was accessible both from the front room and the bedroom for the en-suite experience.
Luxury extras include full size Elemis products which are topped up throughout your stay, dry cleaning and laundry options (with an actual laundry room on the ground floor if you prefer to do it yourself), a high power hair dryer, tea and coffee making facilities and super fluffy robes and slippers. The bedroom also has a further huge TV on the wall and the movie entertainment system (you can purchase the brand new movies straight out of the cinema for £7.99 per movie) has an easy to navigate menu, along with the usual TV channels should you wish. Snuggling into the king side bed with a mountain of cosy pillows and the latest Julia Roberts and George Clooney movie was bliss!
Dao by Dorsett West London is currently offering their Dao Journey packages to enhance your stay and I took full advantage of the ‘Self Care’ option. Designed to make you fully unwind during your aparthotel visit, there was a gift bag on the bed when I arrived containing a number of self care goodies. These included kombucha tea, CBD balancing oil, a luxurious face mask, a deliciously scented candle, and then a sweat blanket, full light therapy treatment machine on the dressing table and a massage voucher which could be used for an in room treatment! On the bed side table there was also a gorgeous smelling scented spray to help you sleep.
It’s all part of Dao’s promise to put the guest first and work around them, rather than the other way around. There are three other options available and I particularly like the idea of the ‘Move Your Way’ package which includes a Peloton bike in your room along with resistance bands, a yoga mat, protein bar, water bottle and gym day pass.
‘Family Adventure’ meanwhile, will give you a Kidzania Pass, babysitting Service, ‘Eat, Sleep, Doodle’ Placemat, hot chocolate and a reading book and lastly the ‘Pet Friendly’ offering has everything you could need for your furry friend including pet toys and a pet sitting service!
It really feels like Dao by Dorsett have thought of everything, making this a slicker than average stay with all the extras. Special bags in the bathrooms contain all the essentials you might need or forget – a razor with shaving cream, sewing kit, toothbrushes with Colgate toothpaste, a comb and shower cap. The kitchens are super well equipped with both microwaves and Zanussi ovens and I loved the range of teas and coffees too.
Breakfast (if you’ve opted for it) takes place in the beautiful Jin Bar set off from the main lobby downstairs. Here, you’ll have access to a full buffet breakfast along with the option to offer one main off the menu, while tea and coffee is self-serve with a machine located near the back of the restaurant. I enjoyed a nice veggie breakfast and many cups of coffee while staring up at the incredible interiors of this gorgeous hotel. Dao by Dorsett has definitely been designed with a zen vibe in mind. For dining options in the evening (should you not fancying cooking in your apartment), Shikumen offers Chinese cuisine and is located right next door, or you’ll find a number of other restaurants on the Green and at Westfield London – just a stone’s throw away.
Having stayed both in Dorsett Shepherd’s Bush’s hotel rooms and being able to now compare the experience to the one offered by Dao by Dorsett, I can honestly say I prefer the serviced apartment! Few hotel brands can truly say they’ve done everything possible to ensure a comfortable stay for their guest, but I think Dao by Dorsett West London have most definitely pulled it off.
