Gosforth, on the outskirts of Newcastle Upon Tyne is an affluent and popular residential neighbourhood just ten minutes drive from the city centre. Koru Peaceful Pizza
Koru is a cute and cosy pizzeria in a vibrant setting. Not only is it the perfect spot for a coffee and a really good slice of cake through the day, but it’s also open for lunch and dinner. With a BYOB policy (bring your own booze), the portion sizes are huge to accompany your fancy bottle of wine, while of course they also serve their own alcohol. With a rustic ambience and large tables which make it ideal for larger groups, there’s a really nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Brack Burger Gosforth
Brack Burger have somewhat of a cult following across Newcastle so if burgers are your thing, this is a definite must-try. Located at The Jubilee, there are 8 big screens for sport, weekly music and entertainment, along with pool tables and darts boards. Burgers include The OG with Brack sauce, the PB and Perry with a chilli jam base and the BBQ boss with a honey barbecue sauce. Ophelia

Fortuna Adriano
Smack bang in the middle of the high street is Fortuna Adrianos – an authentic Italian gem! A popular venue which prides itself on authentic Italian cuisine, a warm inviting atmosphere and a range of traditional dishes, Adrianos features a menu packed with tapas style dishes, pastas, risottos and pizzas from the wood-fired oven. Basilico is a family run Italian restaurant in the heart of Gosforth on Gosforth High Street has been serving up quality pizza and pasta since 1990! With local, regional and continental cheeses and charcuterie, it’s a great meet up spot, or order online and click and collect if you’re after a great wine selection. They also run events and wine classes and are multi award winning.
Yum Lush gift emporium has a wide range of trinkets, cards and crafted gifts, stocking local artists and designers. If you’re buying gifts, you’re bound to find something here.
The House of Kiki Boutique on Ashburton Road is a lifestyle boutique selling unique and quirky clothing and accessories. With jewellery as well as pre-loved and vintage pieces, you never know what you might find.
Venture out of Gosforth into nearby Jesmond for more bars, restaurants and shops on Osborne Road and the surrounding area. Metros run regularly from Regent Centre and South Gosforth to West Jesmond.
Newcastle city centre is just a ten minute drive away, while there are plenty of regular buses and metros stopping at Haymarket and Monument. For restaurants, bars, Eldon Square shopping centre and Northumberland Street.
Meanwhile, Metrocentre shopping centre and entertainment complex has more than 250 stores and is easily accessible by car via the A1.
MUSEUMS
There are a number of museums and art galleries nearby. The Biscuit Factory prides itself on being the UK’s largest independent contemporary art, craft and design gallery and has a fabulous restaurant.
The Laing Art Gallery offers free entry for some of its displays and has a café and shop with an impressive collection of art, sculpture and exhibitions.
Other museums include The Discovery, The Hancock and Life Science Centre. The Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art on Gateshead’s quayside is free and open 10am – 6pm. You’ll find exhibitions, pop up shops, prints, photography, workshops and masterclasses.
