Emma Wedgwood, founder of Emma Wedgwood Aesthetics, is proud to announce the launch of her new pro-bono clinic initiative ‘EWA: Restore, Reclaim & Renew.’ This charitable initiative will support people recovering from addiction and substance abuse, helping them recover, reclaim and revive their skin health, overall wellbeing and self-esteem. Emma’s work with these individuals will hopefully increase their chances of successful recovery and sobriety; as well as helping them return to work, rebuilding their lives and self-confidence.
“Your resilience has got you this far. Let’s recover, reclaim and revive your skin health and self-esteem together.”
“Many people newly in recovery find themselves devoid of self confidence, self-worth and self-esteem – with the added challenge of tackling the effects that long-term alcohol / substance abuse may have had on their skin, wellbeing, health and overall appearance,” says Emma Wedgwood. “Addiction can leave individuals with premature signs of ageing, often a side effect of long-term consumption of toxins, malnourishment and broken sleep patterns… not to mention that many people entering sobriety are broke. Whilst in a state of active addiction, people tend to focus their concentration and finances on alcohol or drugs – as well as sometimes struggling to maintain or find work.”
Emma continues, “Entering recovery can be tough enough as it is, but for recovering addicts with low self-esteem (caused in part by the impact continued alcohol or substance abuse has had on their skin and overall appearance) it can be incredibly challenging. And for many, aesthetic treatments or skincare aren’t an affordable option.”
“I want to make getting back into work easier. I want those recovering from addiction to be able to feel confident, empowered and supported. Which is why I’ve founded EWA: R&R Clinics. Addiction doesn’t discriminate – all genders are affected by this very real disease, and my clinics will be a safe space for everyone who would benefit from them. I want to make aesthetics accessible – and safe, for those who need these kinds of treatments but wouldn’t otherwise be able to necessarily afford them.”
Emma’s pro-bono clinics will offer recovering addicts complimentary, holistic consultations and treatments that will be beneficial for their skin health and self-confidence. EWA: Restore, Reclaim & Renew will offer patients a 360° approach to physical and mental wellness; offering skincare consultations, regenerative treatments (such as polynucleotides and exosomes for long-term skin health), cosmetic injectables, diet / lifestyle advice, access to skincare and advice on supplements. The scheme also plans to hold meet-ups and events for patients; helping them meet new people, network and support one another during this trying period of their lives.
“I want to give back to the community,” Emma says. “I have a deeply personal understanding of what addiction does and can do to someone, and how low it can leave people feeling. I want to offer those in recovery a helping hand to assist them on their way and help them feel their best; complementing their journey. It’s important to me to inject not just fillers and Botox, but also inject a little positivity into people’s lives when they may need a boost the most.”
