Le Grand Hôtel Cayré – Art, Culture & Parisian Chic

If you’re visiting Paris and want a hotel that offers sophisticated style with a sense of history while being at the top of its game when it comes to art and culture, Le Grand Hôtel Cayré immaculately blends all three.

Located in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés where the area’s roaring twenties spirit meets contemporary Parisian design, this area used to be a creative hub for artists and writers.

Beautifully revived with Art Deco details, you’ll find bespoke furnishings, and a soaring chandelier spanning seven floors. If you’re visiting soon, you’ll also be able to see the exclusive installation of fibreglass sculptures by iconic French artists Les Simonnet – a collaboration especially for Paris Design Week.

Getting There

We flew direct from Newcastle Airport to Charles de Gaulle with Easyjet in 1 hour 45 minutes but there are flights from all major cities including London. From the airport you can book a taxi to Le Grand Hôtel Cayré via Uber for around £35 with the journey taking around an hour. Want to hop on the train? You can take it directly from the airport via the blue B line, change at Saint-Michel Notre Dame and take the C line to Musee d’Orsay with a 12 minute walk although the whole journey takes around the same time as taking a taxi.

While you’re exploring Paris itself, the Saint-Germain-des-Prés area is a great spot for coffee shops and patisseries, art galleries, bookshops and boutiques as well as literary salons and the very first earliest coffee houses from the 1600s.

The Eiffel Tower is a 35 minute walk and The Louvre takes around 16 minutes by foot. The Rue de Bac metro is also located right outside the hotel – Moulin Rouge was around 20 minutes away on a direct line.

Style and Design of Le Grand Hôtel Cayré

Influenced heavily by the roaring twenties, the exterior of the early twentieth century building by architect Achille Champy features arched windows and wrought iron balconies, while the interiors, re-imagined by British studio Michaelis Boyd blend art deco accents, natural materials, antique statement pieces and rich embroidered fabrics for an effect which encapsulates a bygone time while feeling very ‘of the moment’.

Rooms at Le Grand Hôtel Cayré are elegant and chic, with some boasting views of the Eiffel Tower. Ranging from classic through to suites, our superior city view room complete with adorable balcony over Boulevard Raspail was a relaxing space with creamy tones and flashes of burnt orange. We loved our king size bed, the wooden flooring, silk pleated balloon lampshade and rustic slatted sideboard. Our elegant bathroom boasted a high powered rainfall shower and beautifully fragrant Le Labo toiletries. Wi-Fi, mini-bar, flat screen TV and Nespresso machine are all offered in these rooms.

Collector’s Room

An extra special room within Le Grand Hôtel Cayré is The Collectors Suite which is available to book. A true celebration of French artistry and modernist design overlooking the Eiffel Tower, the suite has been curated by renowned art advisor and collector Gilbert Kann merging recognisable 20th and 21st-century pieces with bespoke one-off creations from legacy French brands such as Maison Pierre Frey and DCW Editions.

Designed in collaboration with Michaelis Boyd, the space is more than just beautiful—it’s truly experiential. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, from Le Labo Santal 33 amenities and locally sourced refreshments to retro Marshall speakers and a handpicked collection of art and design books. Each item within the suite is for sale, making every stay a one-of-a-kind encounter within an ever-evolving gallery of French craftsmanship.

Food and Drink

Restaurant Annette at Le Grand Hôtel Cayré

Le Grand Hôtel Cayré houses destination brasserie Annette – named after Annette Kolb who was a French-German writer and pacifist who actually lived at the original Hotel Cayré for 17 years! We loved the modern yet typical brasserie design of the restaurant boasting banquette seating, more intimate tables and a sweeping curved bar with high stools – perfect for a pre-drink martini.

The menu takes simple, classic and honest French dishes with an updated interpretation and their extensive wine list is excellent. We loved the marinated bluefin tuna crudo served with sweet fresh figs and carmine endive for a nut flavoured addition to the rich succulent buttery tuna.

Breakfast is also served here and while it’s a simple offering, the avocado on toast and luxuriously scrambled eggs were a delicious accompaniment to our fresh bread basket including pastries and croissants.

Officine Bac

Taking over the space of a former pharmacy Officine Bac at Le Grand Hôtel Cayré has a speakeasy style, dim moody lighting, a jazz playlist and excellent cocktails with a new list having just been curated. Definitely pop in here for a drink before or after your adventures.

Le Grand Hôtel Cayré provides a wonderful base for exploring all of Paris and as with all Miiro Hotels their interiors reflect the neighbourhood in which they stand. For a chic stay with a side of creativity and artistic flare, it’s the perfect choice. Book your stay here.
