Perched on Maui’s glittering southern shoreline, Wailea Beach Resort – Marriott, Maui delivers a quintessential island escape that feels like a postcard come to life.
Every direction you turn offers a stunning vista – sapphire Pacific water, lush tropical gardens, elegant poolscapes and fiery Hawaiian sunsets that linger on the horizon.

During a recent stay, the resort revealed itself as a place that balances fun with serene sophistication – from heart-stopping water slides to tranquil spa mornings to unforgettable culinary experiences beneath the endless Hawai’ian sky.
Spread across the 22-acre property are multiple inviting pools, each with its own personality and view, including Hawaii’s longest resort waterslide, a feature that had me channelling my inner child more than once.

The lively Nalu Adventure Pool boasts twin slides that twist and plunge with exhilarating speed – a reminder that luxury travel doesn’t always need to be stuffy. Yet for moments of stillness, Wailea Beach Resort delivers just as beautifully. The adults-only Olakino Sanctuary Spa & Wellness Pool – newly refurbished and thoughtfully designed – became a morning ritual.
With a tranquil infinity pool that seems to melt into the ocean beyond, Olakino is the kind of space that invites you to rest your aches away, sip something refreshing, and just breathe.
After a gentle swim and spa session, the breakfast offerings at the spa lounge are a welcome delight – I highly recommend the Acai bowl, a healthy, energising start to the day that somehow tastes even better with a light breeze coming off the Pacific Ocean.
There’s something beautifully restorative about beginning your morning here – nurturing body and soul before heading out to explore or simply relaxing poolside with a good book.

Stepping into my sea-view room felt immediately serene. Thoughtfully designed with comfort and simplicity in mind, the room framed the Pacific like an ever-moving piece of art through its wide windows.
Each morning I woke to a complimentary fruit plate waiting – a small but lovely touch that felt especially considerate in those early jet-lagged hours.
Wailea Beach Resort’s accommodations range from classic guest rooms to elevated collections such as Sundeck Collection guestrooms, which offer expansive lanais and private outdoor living spaces perfect for sunrise coffee.
Evenings at Wailea Beach Resort are made all the richer by its diverse and delicious food scene, but one highlight stands out: dinner at Humble Market Kitchin by Roy Yamaguchi.
From vibrant Pacific-inspired dishes to inventive local flavours and impeccable presentation, this meal ranks among my favourite dining experiences of the entire trip.
There’s a playful yet refined harmony to the menu – ingredients that feel rooted in place, plated with imagination and flair. Pair this with the unobstructed ocean views, and you’ve got a dinner that feels both indulgent and intrinsically tied to Maui’s landscape.
While Wailea Beach Resort is a destination in itself, it also makes an excellent base for exploring the soul of southwest Maui.

Perhaps the most memorable excursion was a drive to the summit of Mt. Haleakalā, where the sunset unfolds above the clouds in a colour palette that defies description. It’s a humbling, almost spiritual experience that stays with you long after the sun dips below the horizon.
For a taste of local life, a morning trip to the charming towns of Paia and Makawao is essential.
Paia’s eclectic boutiques and laid-back cafés capture the creative, surfer-town energy of Maui’s north shore, while Makawao’s paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) heritage and art galleries reveal another layer of the island’s cultural diversity.
These wanderings give context and colour to your stay – reminders that Maui’s beauty extends far beyond resort grounds.

What struck me most about Wailea Beach Resort was not just its scale or amenities, but how deeply it feels connected to its setting. From the palm-fringed paths that wind through lush gardens to the peaceful energy of its infinity pools, there’s a thoughtful rhythm here that reflects Maui’s dual gifts of adventure and calm.
Wailea Beach Resort is a destination that invites you to play, pause and reflect. It’s a place where the joy of now meets the timeless allure of the Hawai’ian islands – where every sunrise feels like an invitation, every meal like a celebration, and every sunset like an intimate secret shared between you and the sea.

Whether you’re curled up with a tropical acai bowl in hand, racing down a water slide, indulging in a sunset-lit dinner or gazing out toward the horizon from your lanai, this resort captures the heart of a Maui escape: joyful, beautiful and deeply rooted in place.
It’s a stay that feels luxurious, effortless and thoroughly unforgettable – the sort of experience you’ll find yourself dreaming about long after you’ve returned home. Book your stay here.
