Paddington is usually somewhere you pass through. A station. A meeting point. Somewhere to catch a train home. But CÉ LA VI may just have changed that. Set high above Paddington Square in west London, CÉ LA VI has brought something the area has been missing: a destination restaurant and bar that feels impressive, but is still incredibly easy to get to.
You May Already Be Familiar With The Brand
CÉ LA VI has rooftop restaurants in cities like Singapore, Dubai, Taipei and Tokyo, and London is the brand’s first European outpost. That international feel comes through straight away. The interiors are slick, glossy and grown-up, with low lighting, mirrored details, flashes of red and a polished atmosphere that makes you want to order a cocktail before you’ve even sat down.
It feels glamorous without being intimidating. It could work for dinner, drinks, a special occasion, a work event, or an after-work catch-up that suddenly turns into something bigger.

A London Rooftop that Gives Paddington a Bit of Drama
Seated side by side on the terrace, we enjoyed looking out across West London while people stepped outside onto the terrace to take photos. The weather was grey and windy when we visited, so the terrace doors were closed, but even then, the setting did a lot of heavy lifting.
On a warm summer evening, with the glass doors pulled back and London stretched out below, it would be such a good spot for sundowners, date night or drinks with people visiting the city.
Service that Feels Slick From the Start
One of the best things about CÉ LA VI is the service. From the moment you arrive, the team make you feel looked after. They ask whether you’ve visited before, explain the concept and talk you through the menu.
Everything felt effortless. Plates were cleared quickly, glasses were topped up and someone always seemed to appear just when needed. We stayed for around three hours, ordering little and often, heading outside to take in the views, coming back for another drink and lingering over dessert.
Modern Asian Dishes Made for Sharing
The menu is modern Asian and designed for sharing, which is exactly how I like to eat on a long afternoon with a friend in London . There is a chef-recommended menu, which is definitely worth looking at if you don’t want to overthink the ordering. A lot of the dishes we tried were included there, and it gives you a good sense of the range.
We were in more of a small plates and sushi mood, and honestly, the sushi was excellent. We ordered both tuna and salmon rolls, and the quality of the fish really stood out. Fresh, clean and beautifully presented, with a glossy finish that makes you pause before picking up your chopsticks. The tuna tataki was another highlight. Light, citrusy and delicate, with a marinade that lifted the fish without overpowering it.
Do Not Skip the Dumplings
The dumplings were probably the biggest surprise of the meal. We ordered the Pork and Prawn Shumai, and they were genuinely fantastic: light, fluffy and beautifully seasoned. Only four came in a portion, and both of us immediately agreed that if we had ordered them earlier, we would have got another round.
The Duck Bao Buns were also excellent. They arrived in a bamboo steamer, which gave the meal a touch of theatre, and the buns themselves had that lovely balance of richness and lightness.
A Dessert Worth Staying For
Even though we were full, we couldn’t leave without trying dessert. We went for the cheesecake, which arrived looking almost too pretty to eat. It was essentially a deconstructed cheesecake with a raspberry centre that oozed out when you cut into it. Very dramatic. Very satisfying. Very much made for the camera.
Cocktails Above the City
Cocktails are a big part of the CÉ LA VI experience, and the bar is exactly where I’d happily come back to for drinks after work. I had the signature Margarita, which had a slightly different feel to the usual sharp, lime-heavy version. It had a subtle saltiness that worked really well with the food and made it feel more grown-up than your standard margarita order.

A Restaurant that Works for All Occasions
CÉ LA VI has given west London something it really needed. A rooftop restaurant that feels slick, convenient and genuinely exciting. Somewhere you can meet friends coming into London, take visitors for cocktails, linger over sushi, or turn a simple Sunday lunch into something that feels like a proper occasion. It’s one for the vibe, but the food absolutely holds its own.
