We can already hear the clink of glasses and the fizz of bubbles! It’s National Prosecco Day on 13th August and seeing as we quaffed 122 million bottles of Prosecco DOC in 2019, we’re guessing you’ll wanna get involved! Here’s 5 cocktails to quench your thirst this Thirsty Thursday!
The Sgroppino at Bar Swift Soho
It’s become of their best selling cocktails at Bar Swift Soho and is now also available at Bar Swift Shoreditch. Full of zest and juiciness, The Sgroppino mixes 10ml St Germain, 1 scoop lemon sorbet and lemon zest, topped with Prosecco DOC and garnished with a fine grating of lemon zest. Perfecto.
The Fortunella
Concocted by Hospitalian’s Alessandro Gerraci (Chiltern Firehouse) and Gaspare Di Carlo of Fenchurch Terrace’s Sky Garden, this cheeky little cocktail combines 10ml orange juice, 10ml fresh fennel and 15ml Fortunella liqueur poured into a sparkling wine flute over ice and then topped up with some delicious Prosecco DOC.
The Pam Spritz at Molino Stucky Hilton, Venice
This naughty number was created by Riccardo Semmeria on his travels around the world. Now serving The Pam Spritz in Venice, if you’re not planning on heading over there any time soon, you can still enjoy one of these at home. Pour three measures of Aperol, 4.5 measures of white tequila. 6cl of Prosecco DOC and 3cl grapefruit soda straight into a wine glass with ice, and garnish with a slice of pink grapefruit. Sounds divine.
The Classic Peach Bellini
Head Chef at the Italian Embassy – Danilo Cortellini has the perfect recipe for a classic Peach Bellini. Fill your glass with ice and nectarine slices, plus a few basil leaves for good measure and then add 2.5cl Crème de Peche and stir well. Top with Prosecco DOC and stir gently so you lose none of the bubbles!
The Prosecco Spritz
Spritz it up with a classic Venetian and add a twist. Mix three parts Prosecco DOC to two parts of Select Bitter Aperitivo and then add just a dash of soda water.
