Newly opened organic eatery Flavour Garden is a potentially uneasy mix of contradictions attempting a day-to-night transition that, just like the ever-versatile little black dress, somehow seems to work! Offering inventive and nutritious food to the daytime crowd, in the evening Flavour Garden takes on the bold challenge of combining healthy, natural goodness and the prelude to a great night out.
Throughout the day Flavour Garden provides a taste of rural life without compromising on the need to keep up with the hustle and bustle of the outside world. From it’s chunky wooden surfaces, floor to ceiling living window displays and even its quirky copper pipe effect toilet furnishings, the place has the feel of an oversized farm kitchen, where you can forget for a moment that you’re slap bang in the heart of the city and take some time to relax. But just like any working farm, there’s a busy air of efficiency to the staff behind the counter and the freshly prepared food is available to go for those who can’t afford to leave it all behind them for too long.
Focusing on seasonal and organic produce, the daytime menu should satisfy any health conscious, city worker keen to get their 5 a day. Packing a subtle mix of flavours and a healthy crunch, try the Fennel, Quinoa, & Orange salad for a tasty lunch that leaves you feeling virtuously full. And wash it down with one of the specially formulated range of organic juices, developed in partnership with US nutritionist, Ari Sexner, and cold-pressed daily on site for maximum freshness.
Fancy a quick lunchtime vino instead? Avoid the queue at the bar and serve yourself at the wine dispenser, exclusively for Flavour Garden loyalty cardholders. The novelty value alone ensured we started our experience here, but it was the delicious selection of crisp, all organic and vegan wines that kept us gravitating back for more.
Wholesome, organic food and drink is not always your first thought when planning a big night out! But Flavour Garden is enthusiastically leading the way in this tenuous meeting of designs with pounding DJ beats 2 nights a week and some of the best cocktails we’ve tasted in a while. Classic recipes are infused with unique, organic twists, like the injection of chocolate beer syrup or a little homemade Vermouth. Generously sized, these enticing concoctions are each beautifully presented in deliciously unconventional style, thoroughly in keeping with the rustic, healthy vibe of the venue. Don’t miss the Choco Espresso Martini, infused with blueberry at the time of our visit and served with a square of rich, sweet organic chocolate in a banana leaf cone. And try the Whiskey Sour, fascinatingly adorned with a perfectly executed citrus spiral… and half a rice cake! Well, why not?
The evening food menu is currently something of a work in progress, but if you’re looking for something to help ensure your night doesn’t get too messy too soon, there’s an inviting selection of light-bites on offer. Sample the tasty bite-sized burritos or dive in to the eclectic cheese board selection featuring flavours such as blueberry infusion and a cheeky wine-fermented number. Best of all, while Head Chef, Nearchos Tillyros hones his wares, these and other appetising nibbles are often to be found circulating amongst the drinking crowd gratis. So whether you dress it up or dress it down, now’s the time to visit!
Flavour Garden is open Monday – Friday, 7am – 10pm.
