When it comes to eating out, 2020 has most definitely been a year of adaptation and innovation for London eateries, including one of Parson’s Green’s most fabulous little bakeries – Jack and Beyond.
Somewhat of a south-west secret, in our opinion, Jack and Beyond quite possibly bakes and sells London’s best cheesecake. And what’s more, they have also gone all out to offer a new decadent Afternoon Tea experience, priced at £29.95pp and available every day of the week at 3pm.
In addition, and ideal for groups of six or less, this cute little cake shop also offers bottomless cake and fizz (90 minute sitting at £29.95) and bottomless brunch with fizz (90 minute sitting £35.95). With a 10pm curfew in place, there’s literally never been a better way to celebrate an occasion during the day.
Jack and Beyond’s staff are super smiley and helpful (and that’s even with their face coverings on!). On your way in you’ll notice the counter tops laden down with sweet treats like decadent chocolate brownies and even Boris face biscuits!
The glass cabinets are filled with scrumptious treats – iced lemon cakes with shiny glazes, toppings of chopped notes and fresh raspberries… Layers upon layers of sugary sweet goodness, towering velvets and rainbow cakes and pretty pastel shades everywhere.
If you fancy your chances at the bottomless cake offering, then come hungry – we hear that eight whole slices is the limit – in fact that is a whole cake!
Prosecco glasses are topped up before you reach the bottom so you’re never sitting with an empty glass… and if you’re there to indulge in bottomless brunch, then there’s some lovely hearty dishes on the menu. We loved the slow cooked Brindisa chorizo and beans with poached eggs and toasted sourdough, and the Cumberland sausage and potato hash with fried eggs on top.
As mentioned earlier, star of the show had to be the cheesecake. A robust slice of absolute heaven with a proper biscuity base, thick creamy filling and the buttery, nutty, crumbly top. Simply divine.
Afternoon Tea is brand spanking new so we didn’t get the chance to sample it, but, you can look forward to savoury favourites like leek and potato quiche, cheddar palmier, avocado and feta crouton and tomato bean wraps. Sweet treats include choc chip brownie fingers, mini jammy dodger, mini bakewell tarts, red velvet scones and mini Jack shortbread biscuits, washed down with a glass of prosecco and unlimited teas and coffees. All of this, for just £29.95.
Jack and Beyond is the perfect place to catch up with friends in a relaxed, Covid safe environment. Plus it’s just a short walk from Parsons Green station. Get booked in for the bottomless experiences and afternoon tea before the word gets out!
