If you thought AVEIKA was just a night club, think again! Their stylish Japanese restaurant is a total vibe with a really great value 2 course menu available for just £19.95 or 3 courses for £21.95.
If you’re just heading down to the Quayside for a couple of drinks, it’s worth knowing it’s also a late night bar and the cocktails are pretty special. We started with the Billion Dollar Margarita – a super smooth blend of Don Julio shaken with triple sec and fresh lime juice. The Lychee Martini was epic and so moreish I needed two – Kwai Feh Lychee Liqueur being the secret ingredient which I’ve had to buy since!
AVEIKA’s sushi bar and grill offers up Japanese dishes with an innovative twist and we loved the chicken katsu uramaki – obviously not your traditional raw fish when coated in panko crumb but wow, it left a lasting impression. The chicken harumak spring roll had crisp and flake in equal measure and the dipping sauce added a perfect hit of sweet chilli.
I had the salmon teriyaki main which did need more sauce but staff were very happy to provide in a separate serving dish. Miso glazed, it was a good chunky piece and super fresh, while Andrew went for the chilli beef robata which had a good hit of spice with a balanced combo of chilli, ginger and garlic.
I’ve got to to add – don’t underestimate the sides – our noodles were totally delicious. We washed dinner down with a decent bottle of AVEIKA’s house red. A great night out for dinner on the quayside with some atmosphere! View our reel of the experience here and check out more Newcastle restaurants here.
