As the late July summer sun gleams against the backdrop of the stunning Lulworth Castle, the Dorset locale is once again ready to transform into an oasis of music, creativity, and family fun. Camp Bestival, the UK’s most adored family festival, is all set to ring in its 15th year with an unforgettable celebration from July 27th to 30th, 2023.
The birthday blowout promises a potpourri of auditory pleasures. From the timeless allure of Grace Jones to chart dominator Craig David’s TS5, the musical mélange isn’t pulling any punches. Indie enthusiasts will relish the return of The Kooks, while Confidence Man brings a unique party vibe to the table. The festival will also sparkle with pop royalty Melanie C and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and the stunning vocals of Sam Ryder and Ella Henderson. All this, while Dick & Dom, Cosmic Kids Yoga, Junior Jungle, and Mr Tumble ensure a wild party for families of all ages.
“Bestival is our birthday gift to you – a chance to create strong memories at our beautiful castle by the sea,” say festival curators Josie & Rob da Bank. The spirit of inclusivity is front and centre with something for everyone, from the iconic Grace Jones to the all-time favourites Horrible Histories and Junior Jungle.
This celebration goes beyond music. Envision kids engaging in cosmic yoga, Mr Tumble’s mischief, and Dick and Dom’s capers. Picture thrill-seekers in extreme bike battles, or roller discos, or soaring with the Red Devil’s parachute display. Families can roam the enchanted Dingly Dell, the vast Kids Gardens, filled with discovery play and a plethora of activities.
The Saturday shenanigans will reach their crescendo with the return of the HMS Camp Bestival stage. The grounds of Lulworth Castle will pulsate with dance, pyrotechnics, and an unbeatable party atmosphere. Captain Rob da Bank and his first mate Gok Wan promise a 15th birthday B2B special to remember, along with performances by Marawa’s Majorettes and renowned DJs like Fat Tony and Woody Cook.
Embracing the awe-inspiring richness of the planet’s biodiversity, this year’s theme is Animal Snap. Festival-goers are encouraged to channel their animal spirit, becoming one with the wildlife and creating a vibrant, organic spectacle in the heart of Dorset. Adding to the excitement is the festival’s partnership with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) for the 2023 edition.
Guest appearances from Fearne Cotton, Caity Baser, Todd Terry, Goldie Lookin Chain, DJ Rap, Roni Size, Mr Motivator, Stereo MC’s, and the Camp Bestival-favourites; Dub Pistols add to the festival’s star-studded lineup. Also, expect a retreat led by Trish Whelan of Soul Adventures, promoting love and tranquillity, with twice-daily classes featuring a blend of shamanic kundalini yoga and breathwork.
If that’s not enough, savour the delectable offerings of the Feast Collective, curated by the team behind The Little Gloster. With food legends, daily cocktail hours, wildfire cooking, and a dedicated DJ, it is a gastronomic paradise within the festival confines.
Camp Bestival is not just a festival; it’s a celebration of life in all its vibrant, creative, and eclectic glory. Lulworth Castle awaits – it’s time to embark on the ultimate birthday bash of the year.
