With a full team of surgeons and dermatologists, cosmetic treatments are only a very small part of their services, but we were delighted to hear that the brilliant Dr Elizabeth Hawkes would be carrying out our writers’ ‘tweakments’.
Elizabeth is not only an aesthetic doctor, but an ophthalmologist and ocuplastic surgeon. She’s featured regularly in newspapers, journals and magazines (giving her opinion on a range of subjects in everything from the Aesthetics Journal to Glamour UK) and when she’s not helping patients reduce the severity of their lines and wrinkles in the quest for cosmetic perfection, you will find her in surgery performing sight saving operations. She’s really an extraordinary woman.
Immediately setting our beauty writer’s worries at ease, Elizabeth gave her a full, detailed, consultation. We were talked through the entire process, advised what would work and what results could realistically be achieved (given that our writer is in her early 60’s) and we were also told what could go wrong (with injectables, there’s always a tiny risk involved and it’s important to be briefed on this before signing the consent form).
Our writer was most concerned with the lines above her mouth (sometimes called smokers lines even though our writer has never smoked), and also some sagging in the cheeks due to normal loss of volume through age.
Dr Elizabeth recommended injecting the lip area which far from plumping up the lip like a lip filler, with the correct amount and very precise positioning of the needle on the very outline of the lip area, would lift the upper lip ever so slightly and therefore plump up the area between the lip and nose.
To plump up the cheek area, small amounts of filler were dotted above the cheek bone. Each area was massaged gently before Dr Elizabeth reassessed, added slightly more and checked the results. Because filler injectables give immediate results, we were able to see the difference literally straight away and the improvement was incredible.
Dr Elizabeth, prides herself on providing cosmetic treatments which far from the ‘over done’ look (which we’re so used to seeing on ageing US celebrities and on reality TV), are enhancements which most definitely reduce lines and wrinkling, but that are also so subtle, that ‘unless you know, then you really wouldn’t know’.
