Dine at home meal deliveries from London restaurants exploded during Covid times and introduced a new way for foodies across the UK to enjoy restaurant quality food in the comfort of their own home with minimum effort.
We recently tried Oriental Club’s Dine at Home delivery and we’re thrilled with how our ‘home cooking’ turned out!
The Oriental club in central London is somewhat of an institution. For 200 years the private members club has been welcoming those who have lived, worked and travelled in the East. Renowned for their fine dining, The Oriental Club dine at home menu is plentiful with a tonne of different options to cater for whatever you fancy.
With both East and West packages available, we opted for the Western Party Box Platinum priced at £95. For that, you get sourdough and soup for two, two main courses, chocolate pots and salted toffee with assorted biscuits, as well as a bottle of Oriental Club Champagne (Jean-Pierre Launois Blanc de Blancs) and an additional bottle of Merlot, Reserve La Vigneau (a bottle of Picpoul de Pinet is also available. We thought the offering was really well priced for what you get.
All food arrived well packaged and chilled with easy instructions that required minimal prep. With all the dishes prepped in the club house kitchen by Oriental Club’s premier chefs, we had high expectations of the quality of the food, and we were not disappointed.
The seasonal cauliflower soup was seriously creamy with an incredible amount of flavour. Warm crusty sourdough with lashings of the saltiest, tastiest butter took minutes to warm through in the oven and was demolished in seconds, and while we gave ourselves a break in between courses, we enjoyed another glass of the excellent champagne. Crafted by hand in the Grand Cru village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, this crisp and elegant fizz gave us apple and pear on the nose, with a hint of lemon coming through to taste.
For our main courses we chose the beef cheek bourguignon with celeriac and potato mash, and guinea fowl supreme in a cafe au lait sauce with artichokes and lemon cous cous. The packaging was definitely deceiving, as these generous portions filled the full plate and were absolutely delicious. With the Oriental Club renowned for their exceptionally high standards in the kitchen, we can confirm this was the highest quality with melt-in-the-mouth beef, the creamiest mash and a rich, gravy that really got the tastebuds going. Slightly gamier in flavour than chicken, the guinea fowl turned out beautifully and the depth of the creamy earthy sauce was the perfect accompaniment with chunky lemon cous cous for added texture and soaking up.
We finished with gooey, luxurious chocolate pots which were simply divine, dipping in the biscuits for ultimate indulgence.
Absolutely perfect for a stay-at-home Valentine’s feast, Oriental Club’s Dine at Home deliveries are available Tuesday to Saturday nationwide including the Isle of Wight and the Isles of Scilly via Tanglewood Kitchen. *Exceptions apply to Highlands and Islands.
