We’ve been wondering WHAT on earth the Escape to Freight Island is for aaaages. And now all has been revealed! Manchester’s hottest new food and drink destination – Platform 15, will open to the public on Friday 24th July. Occupying a space on Baring Street and part of Depot Mayfield and with super safe safety measures in place (check out their social & safe manifesto here), there’ll be a full seven day launch period (because one day clearly isn’t enough!).
Krum’s vegan doughnuts are among the first traders on board, as well as Voodoo Ray’s Pizza (their Northern debut following on from their Peckham and Dalston mass success), and an Asador wood fired grill in the outdoor court area where Ramsbottom’s Baratxuri will be doing their thing. Camden Town Brewery and Pomona Island will be serving up the beers (plus there’s pour you own tap experiences available too…)
Local DJ’s, promoters and producers will provide some wicked music collections courtesy of Escape to Freight Island Radio in collaboration with Reform Radio and you can expect a summer soundtrack from Artwork, Colleen Cosmo Murphy, Luke Unabomber, Andy Smith (Portishead/Reach Up Disco Wonderland), Chips With Everything, Supernature Disco, Ruf Dug & 808 State to name just a few.
You can book a table (for up to three hours at a time), from tomorrow at 9am. Get in on opening night on Friday 24th July if you’re lucky, but if not, don’t worry, the venue will be open Thursdays to Sundays from midday to midnight. For launch week, Platform 15 will also be open Monday 27th, Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th July. Jump the queue (on the platform) by signing up to the newsletter here and you might just get priority booking…)
