You might think Whitley Bay’s most relaxing feature is the long stretch of golden sandy beach, but you’d be wrong!
Sammy Anne’s holistic therapies and treatments might just be what you’re looking for, if bespoke tailored-to-your-specific-requirements massages, body scrubs and facials are your idea of heaven. What’s more, what could be better than giving the gift of relaxation this Christmas to friends, family or loved ones? Gift vouchers from Sammy Anne’s is a brilliant gift idea and you really can’t go wrong!
Sammy Anne and her wonderful team of warm and friendly therapists make you feel like part of the family from the moment you walk in. Having started her business as a very savvy young entrepreneur back in 2009, she’s grown her client list and the success of the salon into something quite special.
She’s the first one to tell us that her client list is packed to the brim with regulars – because Sammy Anne’s relaxed approach to ensuring her customers’ every request is fulfilled, is really important to her.
There’s a range of excellent treatments on the list – with some of the more bespoke offerings including oncology massage for cancer patients, vagus nerve massage, hot stones, Tibetan Head massage, body scrubs, special Mother to be massages and even reiki. At Sammy Anne’s Holistic Therapy, it really is all about you. With every single treatments tailored to your needs (while using eco-friendly, vegan products), this is more than just pampering—it’s an experience.
I booked the 90-minute back massage, mini facial, and reflexology combo with the lovely and highly skilled therapist Sarah. Rooms here are calm, in warm brown and neutral tones and with the lighting set to dim, I immediately let the days’ stresses disappear as soon as I laid on the massage table. Sarah started with a heavenly neck, back and shoulder massage using Samme Anne’s ‘Still Sleepy Oil’ – all massage oils are made in-house and they smell absolutely divine. Using normal Swedish massage techniques, I could feel the tensions lifting from my shoulders with the deep tissue massage, which was followed by an incredible mini-facial when my face was slathered in the most delicious smelling chocolate mask which was then removed before more oil was applied. This part of the massage uses Upcircle products – a natural, sustainable, vegan and cruelty free skincare range where up-cycled products have been created to offer an environmentally friendly range. Sarah worked more shoulder massage into this section, the decolletage and scalp, before moving on to some reflexology to target the pressure points in my feet which felt amazing, promoting deep relaxation and a strong sense of wellbeing.
Sammy Anne’s salon uses all cruelty-free, vegan-friendly products, with a skincare range which is 100% naturally derived. In all massages, carrier oils and 100% pure essential oils are used, so the relaxation-meter really nudges the 100 mark with those fabulous scents being used during the treatments. What’s even more impressive is that you can by these amazing essential blends on the website, plus shop and support small local businesses like Isle Candles. A refill scheme for the products used durin treatments is also available.
If you’re visiting for the first time, it’s a great idea to head to their website where you’ll find a full page dedicated to Sammy Anne’s therapists. You can then see what they’re qualified in and their particular areas of expertise, and she suggests perhaps trying out a few of their therapists in the first few treatments to find the best fit for you – a brilliant idea.
Want a specific area targeted, longer or less time on that area? It’s no problem at all, Sammy Anne’s personalised and bespoke approach is the most accommodating I’ve known at any massage salon. Ever had a three hour massage before? If that sounds as dreamy to you as it does to me, it’ll only cost you £135. Some of Sammy Anne’s clients have been known to come in the pjs so they can just float out afterwards and head straight to bed – late appointments are available. Meanwhile, the two hour luxury facial and full body massage is priced at a very reasonable £95.
With a huge treatment menu on offer on the website, take ten minutes out of your day and read through the selection – I can guarantee there’ll be something you love. In this busy, fully connected world, it’s so important to switch off. Sammy Anne’s is the place to do it.
