Newcastle is absolutely brimming with the best coffee shops and cool cute cafés. Whether you’re looking to catch up with friends over award-winning coffees, want to satisfy a viral cake craving or even if it’s just for the Instagrammable back drops and floral walls to post on your socials, here’s the Luxe Bible round up of the very best coffee shops and most aesthetically pleasing Newcastle cafés while not compromising on quality.
Sunday Coffee and Kitchen

This gorgeous female owned and run coffee house and kitchen has become a bit of a cult fave going viral all over the ‘gram since it opened, shut and opened again! Sunday on Pudding Chare is oh so pretty with blush pink walls, cute cushions, fancy mugs and a delicious menu. From Biscoff and apple crumble pancake stacks to build your own acai bowls, there’s also savouries like pink hummus and harissa beans on toast. Not forgetting the drinks – there are matchas galore, smoothies and coffee specials. You had us at ‘sticky toffee latte’ but they get first prize for their creativity – we’ve never seen such a pretty poached pear! Walk ins only and Sunday Coffee and Kitchen is also dog friendly.
The Flower Café

The Flower Café has most definitely blossomed over the years! There are now five of the cutest coffee shops in Newcastle, Jesmond, Alnwick, Sunderland and Whitley Bay serving up coffee and brunch, sandwiches, cocktails and organic wines. Their signature cherry blossom décor makes for a very Instagrammable back drop against vibrant cerise and blue banquette seating, while they’re also dog friendly and don’t mind if you’re hanging out with your laptop. Their kinder espresso mocktail martinis are divine, while they’re green matcha latte is full of the good stuff. They do all the regular coffees including cortada, and avo on toast or stuffed fresh bagels are our all day go to’s.
Burds

Burds is one of our faves and you’ll find it at the Grade II listed Gatehouse in the Fleming Business Centre on Burdon Terrace in Jesmond. There’s plenty of outdoor seating on the patio but inside it’s a real vibe with exposed brick walls and fancy seating. While coffee shops are much more than coffee these days (you have to try their incredible flat iron steak with fried eggs and aji verde,) they use Pink Lane Coffee as their suppliers so the coffee really is next level. In fact, everything is locally sourced where possible and it’s fantastic to know you’re supporting local business every time you visit.
Laneway

Another dog friendly coffee shop, you’ll find Laneway on High Bridge in Newcastle and on Front Street in Tynemouth. Their Newcastle cafe looks more like a cool bar but it’s a great spot for people watching on the high stools at the window, or catching up with friends while enjoying an oat matcha latte. Their new Autumn menu is bringing it ALL. Shakshuka, cheese and leek toasties, and to-die-for French toast with chai spiced custard, blueberry compote and flaked almonds. Heaven.
Kiln

You’ll find Kiln Café and Ceramics in one of the coolest parts of the city – Ouseburn. This super trendy area of Newcastle is filled with independent and quirky offerings and Kiln is no exception. While they used to have a pottery and ceramics workshop next door, the space has recently been redesigned and looks incredible with a paired back look, original floors and walls and a burnt orange hue set against high tables. With a log burner for cosy coffees and a new bakery (@patinaedinburgh), we’re waiting to see how the pottery gets integrated once again.
Etto Gosforth

Etto Gosforth is a dreamy little find inside the shopping centre on Gosforth High Street, 10 minutes away from Newcastle city centre. Head for a stroll, stop for a browse at the charity shops or cute little boutiques and then recharge at Etto’s stylish café With half price refills on your second coffee and the most wholesome yoga and brunch mornings, Etto feels like more of a community! We love the pastrami beef bagel with mustard mayo and pickles. To drink? Make ours a lavender matcha latte.
Pink Lane Coffee

Pink Lane Coffee is a cult classic. Just a stone’s throw from Newcastle Central Station on Pink Lane, their single origin coffee is ethically sourced, of speciality grade (scoring at least 80 points on the VIP coffee grading system) and roasted in house at the Newcastle roastery. Open 7 days a week, there’s a massive choice of espressos, cold brews, teas and hot chocs as well as coffee. The menu changes seasonally and there are gf options as well as oat and soya milk alternatives, plus well behaved pooches are welcome! We love the laid back vibe and the absolutely superb coffee. Love it more than life itself? Grab a coffee subscription and have Pink Lane brought directly to your door.
Vanilla and Dreams

Serving up cakes, coffees and cookies, breakfast, brunch and lunch, Vanilla and Dreams at Great Park in Gosforth is a dreamy café and perfect for girly brunch catch ups. Cupcakes are dressed in shades of sugary lemon and pastel pinks with hearts, flower and fruit adorning the cabinets. Sprinkles and sugar stars come for free while afternoon teas is served on the most ornate two tiered tray. Taco style pancakes come drenched in sweet sauce, or go for savoury snacks like grazing boards, breakfast sandwiches and poached eggs with avo. They also make the most beautiful celebration cakes you’ve ever seen.
Lily Brew Jesmond

We love the clean bright aesthetic at Lily Brew Jesmond. They’ve gone for a minimal vibe with the odd flash of floral. Serving speciality coffee and fresh artisan bakes, they’re matcha mornings until 11.30am mean you can grab a drink and a dessert of the day for only £7.50. Whether you’re going for coffee and hazelnut cake, strawberry shortcake bar or billionaire shortbread, you’re in for a treat. They’ve also just started serving up vegan sausage rolls – apparently a game changer although we’ve yet to try them!
Lagom
You’ll find this award-winning speciality coffee bar and café on Newcastle’s Monk Street in the city centre – recently winning best coffee shop in Newcastle for 2025! Dog friendly, open daily and hidden slightly down a back alley, Lagom sports a Scandi aesthetic vibe and serves up a rotating selection of four global coffees with beans from the Americas and Africa. For serious coffee aficianados!
Batch Bakery Café

Batch Bakery Café on Clayton Road in Jesmond is a cute community based café serving up the most divine cakes, pastries and coffees. Their Dubai chocolate pistachio croissants are delicious, while pancake stacks with salted caramel and caramelised bananas literally have us salivating every time we think of them. Batch Bakery Café hold glass jewellery making parties, use Pink Lane Coffee for their pours and you just generally like you’re part of something when you visit. We heart Batch Bakery Café.
Tiny Tiny

Tiny Tiny in Carliol Square is just a beautiful place to hang out! Plants line the window sills, hanging pots line the ceiling and the industrial vibe is juxtaposed with cute lights, a slick counter and the prettiest of dishes. Not only is the coffee absolutely excellent (and you can just pop in for a drink), but their new Autumn menu is filled with clever seasonal plates like black pudding with bearnaise sauce, fried onion and blue cheese bread with caramelised pear and baked cauli with Bombay potato hash and masala spiced eggs. Sounds like our perfect spot! They’re also king when it comes to latte art. What could be better?
The Mokka Bakery

Chillingham Road is having a moment or rather a movement and The Mokka Bakery is right in the middle of it! Head to Heaton for the cutest of vibes and cosy coffees in this trendy café just outside Newcastle. Serving both brekkie and bakery items, coffees, smoothies and milkshakes, the Turkish inspired menu offers up incredible Turkish breakfasts for two which include feta and halloumi, clotted cream with honey, mixed olives, breads and pastries. There’s also mini pastrami pizzas, potato boreks and a range of delightful sweet treats like baklava and Biscoff cheesecake. Turkish coffee comes served with a cookie, while there’s the usual offerings of americano, and flat white as well as iced coffees and hot chocs.
