For a romantic bolthole that feels a world away (but is really only a short drive up the Northumberland coast), Newton Hall’s Garden Rooms are luxurious lodges to be enjoyed by families, friends or couples.

Perfect for Valentine’s Day, these gorgeous modern cabins have all the mod cons yet still make you feel like you’re really out there in the middle of nowhere. As well as luxurious walk-in rainfall showers with luxury Noble Isle products in the bathroom, fluffy bathrobes, and super stylish interiors, there’s also Egyptian cotton bedding, and your own kitchen area which make it very easy if you’re trying to block out the outside world for a weekend, yet right on the doorstep is the ever popular Joiners Arms. It’s a short walk down the road if you’re staying at Newton Hall, and you can expect a great pub with a buzzy atmosphere, excellent food and breakfast is also served the morning after your stay.

Definitely one of the main draws of the Newton Hall Garden Rooms is their private hot tubs. Not to be confused with jacuzzis, they don’t have jets, but they’re oh-so-toastie when you step into the wooden barrels when it’s -2 outside. Secluded enough that you won’t see anyone else, it’s a wonderful relaxing way to unwind, do some star gazing, drink champagne and generally enjoy being at one with nature.

Blow away the cobwebs with a short walk to the beach

A pacey 15 minute walk away, you’ll find the local beach at Newton-by-the-Sea. If you want to blow the cobwebs away before a pint in the Joiners on the way back to your hot tub garden room, we’d recommend getting your wellies on and heading down the road. There’s nothing more exhilarating than a cold walk followed by a warming red wine!

Newton Hall itself is a stunning Georgian manor house set in beautiful grounds and pebbled driveways. When we visited, a wedding was in full swing with the whole venue hired out. Romantic backdrops, plenty of space for guests and partying and fully customisable packages are all part of the service.
