From the pink marble and biophilic vibes of the rooftop terrace which boasts epic views across the city, to the basement bar from acclaimed cocktail extraordinaire Mr Lyan, One Hundred Shoreditch has captured the essence of an evolving East London and created something that’s really rather special.
The former Ace Hotel has been upscaled – with carefully considered spaces from Jacu Strauss, and bold statement pieces from Jan Hendzel Studio.
Attracting a diverse crowd of visitors, One Hundred Shoreditch is a feast for all the senses from the moment you enter the lobby. The art, buzzing atmosphere and eclectic spaces provide an intoxicating atmosphere.
In contrast to the lively communal areas, rooms are serene and sanctuary-like. Designed as tranquil havens to juxtapose against the buzz of the area in which the hotel stands, neutral tones and natural colours along with a bed which feels like sleeping on a gigantic marshmallow, all contribute to that feeling that you’ve actually entered a wellness retreat when you shut the door behind you.
With no less than five restaurants and bars throughout the hotel, The Rooftop could easily be a members only venue with an exclusive air and impressive backdrop. High stools prop up an ornate pastel pink bar punctuated with hanging plants, while the terrace itself, accessible through floor-to-ceiling glass doors is the perfect place to hang out on a sizzling hot Friday night.
For fun last night vibes, Mr Lyan’s latest opening – Seed Library, offers up a basement bar-slash-club where a DJ spins the vinyl by mood lighting. There’s a damn fine cocktail list with each concoction a classic, using unusual ingredients to bring out an alternative taste.
Sustainable throughout and on a mission to support local business, Coffee Shop which uses the ethically sourced Ozone Coffee Roasters is a welcome stop off for early morning workers every day of the week. The lobby itself boasts a free co-working area, so the hotel always seems lively – no matter what time of day of it is.
Luxe Bible loves a hotel that’s full of surprises and One Hundred Shoreditch certainly delivers that on every one of its levels. Not forgetting the lower ground Peloton studios, the 5 meeting and events spaces (including the rooftop room with panoramic views across the city), and the casual lobby bar which you might miss if you didn’t know it was there, it’s a great base to explore all the East London has to offer. But then again, do you really need to leave at all?! It seems everything you could want is right here.
