Ragdale Hall Spa in the heart of the Leicestershire countryside should be experienced at least once by any spa lover and this Christmas, you can give the gift of luxurious relaxation with vouchers starting from just £20.
Having won numerous awards, Ragdale Hall is a heavenly and luxurious break away from the every day grind from start to finish and you’ll feel a sense of calm as soon as you step into the lobby and have your luggage taken off you and delivered to the room.
It’s a stunning grand old building, built in the neo-classical style in 1785, and exudes that grandiose air as it looms into view. Perfectly balancing old with new, the dining room for example, retains its old skool feel, but of course in stark contrast, it’s safe to say the spa facilities are super advanced.
The inclusive element is definitely an inviting prospect when booking for either a day or night’s stay because you’ll get full use of Ragdale Hall’s pools, thermal spas, Heart and Soul fitness facilities, classes and at least one of your meals. If you’re booking in for an overnight stay (and we’d definitely recommend that you do!), then dinner, your room and breakfast is also included. Add on whichever treatments you desire – they’ll all leave you feeling like you’re walking on air.
A family run business, Ragdale Hall first opened its doors as a ‘health hydro’ in 1973 as a slimming club! Since then it has been updated several times – notably in 2007 when the thermal spa area was added and again in 2017 with the incredible heated rooftop infinity pool with views as far as you can see out across the rolling hills of Leicestershire.
With a total of six gorgeous pool areas including the 25 x 112 meter pool which is great for getting your lengths in, there’s also an exercise pool and two restorative pools which include the waterfall lagoon pool, and my favourite being the candle pool bathed in ethereal pink and blue light with candles lining the cavernous walls. This is a designated quiet area and you can literally while away your time in here, losing yourself in the tranquil setting in both body and mind.
The outdoor pool is a great escape, hidden in the grounds of Ragdale Hall away from the main house. If you happen to visit in summer, this is a beautiful, peaceful setting to lounge by the water or cool off with a reinvigorating swim.
Ragdale Hall’s Thermal Spa experience really is something! Starting by the wishing stream, rub the stone and throw it into the water before your magical revitalising journey begins. Indulging all the senses, the Thought Zone is an immersive heat experience with serene visuals and sound to help you drift away. As a terrible sleeper, I was shocked that even I managed to nod off in this room.
While all of the rooms smell unbelievable, the Scented Room really takes things up a notch. Images of nature and fresh, aromatic fragrances waft through the air while you take deep breaths and truly relax.
The Volcanic Salt Bath envelopes you in a steamy velvet darkness of basalt and slate with a eucalyptus spritz to revive and invigorate, while the rose sauna is a true delight, a Scandi style sauna inbued with roses as the dry warmth releases tensions and calms the mind.
The Colourflow Cave combines steam, vision and smell for a deeper sense of relaxtion amidst of river of colour, and the cave shower and experience showers are like being caught in a tropical storm with dramatic weather and a gorgeous sense of warmth.
You could literally spend all day in here but with lunch and dinner included, you can time your relaxation around a delicious afternoon buffet and again in the evening with a tantalising three course meal in the main dining room. We enjoyed bread to start, Sirloin of aged British beef and a selection of cheese and chutneys, but there’s plenty to choose from.
The rooms are beautifully styled and have stunning marble bathrooms, plenty of windows that let in the light, luxury bedding, TV, tea and coffee making facilities and of course, fluffy robes and slippers as you’d expect in a spa hotel!
After a blissful night’s sleep, breakfast arrives to the room and we feasted on pancakes, fruits of the forest toasted oats, and smoked bacon, egg and mozzarella bake washed down with pots of strong fresh coffee. Feeling a renewed energy, we headed to the main pool to fit in some lengths before it was time to go.
Ragdale Hall Spa has really thought of everything. From the spa experiences to the food, drinks and different areas of the hotel in which to chill and relax, it’s the perfect escape for special get togethers with friends, Christmas breaks, hen weekends, or you’d feel totally comfortable coming here on your own to really get away from it all.
Making a wonderful Christmas gift, the award-winning Ragdale Hall Spa also offers gift vouchers starting from just £25 which are also available as e-vouchers to make exchanging gifts that little bit easier this year. Grab your vouchers here.
