London has A LOT of hotels, but only a smattering of sexy cool ones. Seductively ticking every one of our boxes, South Place Hotel, just a short walk from Liverpool Street station oozes modern luxury from every one of its boutique bedrooms and yes, five star here, means five star.
The reception area in other hotels might be somewhere you wouldn’t want to necessarily ‘hang out’. But at South Place Hotel, it’s basically so chic and artsy that you’ll almost wish your room wasn’t ready. No such luck, service is smooth and you’ll be whisked up to your dream boudoir before you’ve had time to order a bottomless brunch from the gorgeous 3 Bar.
Designed by Conran & Partners, you’d expect nothing less than a bed that gives the illusion it’s suspended above the floor. Swanky touch panel mood lighting creates the magic, while you can also look forward to blackout blinds, a super king size bed (if you’re a king room), oh-so-important full length mirrors and a Bang and Olufsen TV.
Marble bathrooms have more than enough room to accommodate the abundance of beauty products you knew you’d bring but never use, while there’s luxurious St Clement’s bath products by James Heeley just in case you forgot anything – and they smell a-maz-ing.
The rest of the hotel is equally as chic. Angler Restaurant & Terrace on the seventh floor is Michelin-starred with Exec Chef Guy Foulkes overseeing proceedings. Expect an extensive wine list and seriously good seafood. The Secret Garden meanwhile, is a gorgeous spot in summer with its waterfalls and palm trees and equally as awesome in winter when it’s lit up with twinkly lights so you can get all cosy with a Martin Millers Gin. And don’t forget 3Bar exuding cool from every one of its perfectly mixed cocktails.
Breakfast is served downstairs in the South Place Chop House – another destination restaurant for the hotel which attracts a fashionable crowd from breakfast through to closing. Serving up ‘skilled, gutsy’ dishes, South Place Chop House offers up everything from oversized Sunday roasts to Dorset crab cakes, lamb pots and steaks from the josper grill. After a luscious nights’ sleep, you can look forward to a full works English brekkie, smashed avo on toast, or the absolute heavenly Burford brown omelette stuffed with more cheese than you ever thought possible.
After all that grub, you might want to check out the spa and gym – fully Technogym equipped with rainfall experience showers, touch screen TV’s, steam room and sauna. Or then again, you might just want to head back to your designer bedroom to chill in all its opulence before heading back to reality.
South Place Hotel is currently offering Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day packages. Click here to book. You most definitely won’t regret it…
