Grey hairs, massive roots, a basic lack of needing to get ready to go out anywhere.. Yep lockdown hair is definitely ‘a thing’. But if you’ve got a zoom call for work, a virtual night with the girls, or even.. a FaceTime DATE, then Remington Session Stylist Kieran Tudor will help you rock your lockdown hair with Remington and three super easy styles to try at home.
Lockdown Style No. 1 – The Remington Messy Ponytail
Haven’t washed your hair for a few days? This messy ponytail will work better than on freshly washed hair. You’ll need a comfy, hair grips, a curling wand and a can of hairspray to hold it all in place. Kieran loves the PROluxe Curling Wand to create this look: “The PROluxe wand has a clever Pro+ setting which gently styles at a lower temperature without compromising on results, meaning you style your hair without worrying about potential heat damage”
Section off some face-framing sections from a centre parting to stop your ponytail from looking too severe. Back comb the roots on the crown of your head to create volume, gathering the hair into a high ponytail, using your cheekbones as a guide. Tease the hair around the hairline for a more messy relaxed look. Wrap the look front sections of the hair around the wand to wave the hair softly away from the face. Finish by backcombing the roots and hairspray to fix in place. Watch the tutorial with Kieran, here.
Lockdown Style No. 2 – Lived in Waves
Yep ‘totally woke up like this…’. Here’s lockdown look no. 2 – the lived in waves which looks effortless (even though you’ve styled it!) Kieran suggests mixing things up with a deep side parting for some serious starlet Hollywood glamour if you normally wear it in the middle.
All you’ll need is a handful of hair clips to section the hair, a curling wand and a texturising spray (if you have it).
With hair totally dry, start with the back sections and clip the rest of your hair up and out of the way. Bring the left section forward over the left shoulder, winding a 2-3 inch section of hair around the wand, leave 2 inches straight at the end for a more modern vibe. Repeat on the right side. Continue taking sections of hair, working up your head as you go, alternating the direction you wind the hair in. For the hair that frames your face, wind these sections away. Once all hair has been waved, use your fingers to separate the curls and shake the hair through. Set with a texturising spray. Watch Kieran’s tutorial video here.
Lockdown Style No. 3 – The Every Day Blow Dry
There’s just something about a blow dry in a salon that’s just a bit special. You know the kind – the bouncy volume, the poker straight locks or the zero frizz.. Kieran’s top tip is to abandon the hairdryer (and signature arm ache) and try a hot brush, like the Curl & Straight Confidence Air Styler from Remington.
With its various attachments, you can blow dry, detangle, straight and curl, all in one.
Start with wet hair and use the concentrator attachment to blast hair to 70% dry. Then switch to the paddle brush attachment, taking a section of hair from the back of the head and place the teeth of the brush at the root. Glide through the hair to the tops and use the teeth to lift the root. With the tong attachment, add shape and movement at the front of the head by placing a section of hair into the clip and use the button to rotate hair around the barrel, rotating the section away from the face. Release when hair is fully wrapped, applying the heat setting for 6 seconds, followed by 6 seconds of the cool shot to set. Use fingers to loosen the curl and set with hairspray.
