Roof Thirty Nine at Fenwick Newcastle have launched a fabulous partnership with The Botanist Gin running until 18th September.
Their stunning alfresco terrace is the perfect place to soak up the last rays of summer as we head into Autumn, while enjoying a few beautifully blended cocktails.
The Botanist Gin is slowly distilled and hand crafted with a whopping 22 foraged island botanicals – if you’re a gin fan, you’ll definitely want to give this one a go – gorgeous with tonic or mixed in cocktails.
The new cocktail list showcases 5 delicious serves including The Botanist Gin Bubbles which is a refreshing blend of The Botanist Gin, with passoa, prosecco, lemonade and passion fruit. We also loved The Wild Garden with The Botanist Gin, elderflower liqueur and pressed apple juice. Our fave was Botanist French though, a smooth and beautifully balanced combo of The Botanist Gin, lemon juice, sugar syrup and champagne.
Roof Thirty Nine is a really cool terrace for all day drinking and dining, serving up small plates and starters, and big plates from the charcoal oven with an emphasis on locally sourced produce.
We devoured the North Shields crab on toast – there is no scrimping on the servings here, just piles of juicy, tender crab meat. BBQ’d king prawns are oh so moreish, coated in soy, ponzu and red miso for big bold flavour.
The wood fired whole spring chicken was tasty and moist with a crackling crispy skin. The accompanying sweet mustard sauce took this dish to a whole new level – tickling the taste buds and ticking every box with notes honey and Dijon. Rosemary potatoes were perfectly formed roasties, crunchy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and just divine when loaded with that sauce.
We finished with another gin cocktail rather than going for dessert – The Botanist Gin’s island botanicals are foraged by James Donaldson, then slow simmer distilled and hand-crafted on Islay at the Bruichladdich Distillery by head distiller Adam Hannett. Because they’re hand picked through spring summer and autumn, this gin is truly a spirit you can drink any day of the year!
Pop down to Fenwick and head above Northumberland Street to try out some of these unique and dreamy concoctions from 10am – 8pm Monday to Saturday and on Sundays from 11am – 7pm.
