International Whisky Day at Silverleaf, Pan Pacific London
What better way to toast International Whisky Day on 29th March than at Silverleaf – Pan Pacific London’s fabulous bar who will be hosting an intimate tasting experience in the hidden tasting room – Alba. Guests will get to enjoy serves from premium whisky brand Lochley which is a single malt Scotch whisky which uses barley grown directly from the Lochley Land. Heliot Steak House New Monthly Steak and Wine Club
Premium restaurant destination and late night bar Heliot Steak House at the Hippodrome Casino has just announced a rather delicious ‘steak and wine club’ which will run monthly. Featuring globally sourced cuts of meat and expertly paired wines from around the world, dynamic duo Head of Wine, Salvatore Russo and Executive Chef and Meatologist, Ioannis Grammenos will host the four weekly events with the first taking place on Tuesday 14th March priced at £120pp. Focusing on Argentina on the 25th April and paying homage to Heliot’s London location on 16th May, check out more details on the website.
20 Berkeley
British, produce-led Mayfair restaurant 20 Berkeley opens this Spring with meticulously sourced ingredients and an a la carte menu which changes with the seasons. Expect an abundance of quirk and personality at this gorgeous country style manor house, while remaining sympathetic to the history of its prestigious location. With Drawing Room, Pantry and Orangery, there’s also a dedicated cocktail bar – The Nipperkin Bar along with a private dining room on the ground floor. Exec Chef Ben Orpwood has said about the menu “Here in the UK, we have the best asparagus, the best lobster and the best scallops in the world. 20 Berkeley will be an ode to the farmers and suppliers who have made this project possible”.
The Freak Scene
Ex Nobu chef Scott Hallsworth will open new Parsons Green restaurant The Freak Scene on 22nd March. Teaming up with Australian comedian, author, radio and television presenter Adam Hills, The Freak Scene will offer up 15 dishes including Singapore Chili Crab Wonton Bombs, Magical Cabbage with dried miso truffle and ponzu (Adam’s favourite – he named it), Chicken Fried Chicken with peanut soy, Salmon Sashimi Pizza with truffle ponzu, Black Cod Tacos with scorched red chilli salsa, and Nasu Dengaku (miso-grilled aubergine). There’ll also be sushi, sashimi and a catch of the day. While the website is currently under refurb, you can get booked in here.
New Opening – Cavo Restaurant
Mediterranean living and cuisine is the name of the game at new opening Cavo on the 4th floor of The Outernet Building on Tottenham Court Road. The open plan restaurant and outside seafood terrace with incredible views is a new destination dining concept from Ivo Dimitrov following his success in Greece and Spain. Inspirational food includes oyster platters and caviar to start along with sharing plates and tapas such as slow roasted aubergine, wild forest mushroom and spinach lasagne, seafood stew and black cod.
Where to watch the Oxford v Cambridge Boat Race
It’s come around quick! On Sunday 26ht March, the legendary Oxford v Cambridge Boat Race will take place on the Thames. Nab your spot at any one of these awesome venues! Rick Stein Barnes will have a special menu running priced at £95pp available between 3pm – 6pm. Meanwhile there’s a four course banquet priced at £90pp at the White Hart Barnes. The Bull’s Head in Barnes has unrivalled views of the racing from their private Melrose Room with unlimited canapes and a glass of Nyetimber between 2pm – 4pm priced at £50 a ticket. Other great places to watch include The Duke’s Head Putney, The Boathouse Putney and The Old Ship Hammersmith.
British Pie Week at Wiltons and The Pie Room at Holborn Dining Room
It’s British Pie Week from the 6th – 12th March and Wiltons are celebrating for the 17th year running with a special sweet and savoury offering on their lunchtime menu from 6th – 10th. Steak and oysters pays homage to its historic origins as an oyster barrow business near Haymarket, while those looking for something sweeter will love the English apple pie with scrummy double cream. Re-opening its Pie Hole on the 6th March, The Pie Room at Holborn Dining Room will offer those short of time with the perfect solution – a handy hatch for pie collections which can be ordered and collected. Guests favourites will be on the menu including uests’ favourites: Chicken Pie, Pork Pie, Dauphinoise Potato Pie as well as Sausage Rolls. (open 11am – 3pm Tuesday – Thursday)
Saltie Girl’s New Brunch Menu
Available every Sunday now at Saltie Girl is their new egg focused brunch menu from 11am to 4pm. Along with favourites like New England lobster roll; Gnocchi with caviar and Warm spicy crab roll, new brunch additions include Mermaid’s Nest with quail eggs, crab, caviar and potato chips; Eggs on Eggs with scrambled eggs, toast points and caviar; Breakfast Carbonara with guanciale and poached egg as well as Saltie Girl Eggs Bennie topped with smoked salmon, lobster, spinach or ham. There’s some delicious drinks choices too including Saltie Mary – an elevated twist on a punchy brunch classic or the Passionfruit with vodka, passionfruit and grapefruit bitters. Book here.
FREE St Paddy’s Day Party at Refuge Manchester
Celebrate St Paddy’s Day with a proper knees up at the newly refurbished The Vault at Refuge on Oxford Street, Manchester. There’ll be a live band, Irish dancers and a DJ plus the first 50 to sign up will receive a free Jameson’s cocktail.
