Ever stayed at a hotel and immediately felt at home?! The Other House South Kensington (and soon to open its second in Covent Garden), is an exclusive property which offers the facilities of a members club along with 200 perfectly formed club flats which can be booked by the general public.
They’re not cheap, but that’s the point. What you’re getting at this ‘hotel’ is far more than you could expect from a big chain or a budget brand.
Luxe apartment style living is combined with five star hotel facilities, with the added air of exclusivity oozing from every corner of its highly styled areas.
As you’d expect from a brand new property in the current climate, The Other House is an environmentally aware hotel with energy tracking on its in house app, low carbon architecture, and sustainable materials which Bergman Interiors have curated to create an absolute stunning aesthetic in their bid to celebrate maximalism. With a rich British colour palate and a range of gorgeous textures, fabrics and patterns, this ‘lifestyle’ hotel disrupts and contrasts in equal measure.
Rooms at The Other House are ‘a new way to stay’. They’re designed more like flats with a focus on the living area complete with sofas, chairs, tables and a kitchen area, while the luxurious bedroom area is partitioned off with a stylish privacy screen. Bathrooms are spacious and expensive looking with gorgeous smelling products and a really nice sized rainfall shower. A really nice feature is The Other House app which allows you to check in or out, call a lift, see how busy the restaurants are and even order your dry cleaning, all on your phone.
Of course if you’re not cooking ‘at home’ every night, there are plenty of places to enjoy food and drink without stepping out onto the street. The Other Kitchen is open to everyone – shiny tiles, an impressive bar area, drop lighting and a bold black and white diamond tiled floor make this a welcome spot to enjoy all day dining, evening supper clubs, and/or breakfast if you’re staying over.
The Owl & Monkey is located at the back of The Other House, just past the lavish peacock chair proudly displaying its feathers. The glamorous bar serves up perfectly concocted cocktails mixed expertly by the staff, while the small plates are executed beautifully. A gorgeous place to chill and unwind, the tunes create a real vibe in here.
The Keeping Room is a hidden basement bar where members and residents have access to the ‘Reserve List’ of limited edition wines which can then be kept under lock and key until your return, while The Den is a discreet area in which to socialise or literally get away from it all. Finally The Hogsmire is a stunning two storey atrium overlooking the vitality pool. Light and airy with an open fire and plenty of room for working or enjoying a light snack during the day, this impressive space is both elegant and informal in equal measure.
As well as the vitality pool and spa, guests can enjoy full use of the gym and fitness studio with state-of-the-art equipment.
With an emphasis on today’s traveller looking for an experience which indulges the senses while also providing a comfortable home from home, residents are encouraged to stay anything from one night to a year. With eight different categories of room available, there’s something to suit everyone. There’s even a set of rooms with adjoining doors and their own private terrace.
Residents who are staying in any of the club flats at The Other House have access to all of the members club facilities, meanwhile memberships are priced at £1500 for the year, with a one off joining fee of £350 inc VAT. Membership includes access to all areas, the full members’ events calendar and exclusive rates on club flats. The Other House Covent Garden is due to open in Winter 2024.
