NE1 Newcastle Restaurant Week is back! This twice yearly culinary celebration is the perfect opportunity to dine at those places you’ve never gotten round to visiting, or which are typically out of your price range. Slashing the prices and offering special menus across Newcastle from 13th – 19th January 2025, you’ll get the chance to experience cut price menus at over 100 restaurants, while some eateries have put together a one off offering that you’ll not get at any other time of the year. Priced at £15, £20 and £25, you’ll be giving a boost to the Newcastle restaurant scene’s quietest time of year, and you’ll be saving money while you do it.
Now in its 13th year, NE1 Newcastle Restaurant Week is more popular than ever – last year, 115,000 took part which is incredible! New restaurants participating this January include DOOD, Cilantro and Sunshine, but there’s one standout restaurant for us and that’s Gaucho.
This premium Argentinian steak restaurant opened in Newcastle in March 2023 and has quickly become a firm fave on the foodie scene due to its high quality steaks, incredible innovative cocktails and fancy interiors. It’s favoured by celebs and loved around the UK with 18 restaurants across the UK and a flagship in London’s Piccadilly which first opened in 1993.
With the chain boasting the UK’s most expansive selection of indigenous Malbecs, and offering what Gaucho considers to be best quality steak in the world, their beef comes from Argentinian, premium Black-Angus cattle, bred at hand selected farms.
From 13th January for seven days, you can enjoy three incredible courses for only £25 at Gaucho Newcastle. Choose either the creamy burrata served with truffle infused tomato salad, aged balsamic and freshly toasted sourdough or beef empanadas – golden coloured crescent shaped pasties stuffed with a tasty filling and traditional style Argentinian salsa golf on the side.
For mains, you’re spoiled for choice with the 200g chorizo sirloin steak served alongside chips or roast veg and chimichurri sauce, or the 250g churrasco cuadril rump which is spiral cut and marinated in garlic, parsley and olive oil (this is our personal favourite!) The spiral allows for more surface area when cooking and enhances the flavour – this one is real beauty.
Not in the mood for a full on steak? Go for the classic burger made with 100% Argentine beef patties or the spaghetti romesco made with superstraccia (smooth, creamy and vegan Italian style cheese) and sweet confit cherry tomatoes.
For dessert, there’s two classics on the menu – the basque dulce de leche cheesecake which is served with a sour cherry compote for that perfect sweet and sour combo, or chocolate brownie with white chocolate ice cream. This chocolate brownie is a good one!
