Yogi Bare are well known for being an eco-conscious, forward thinking, sustainable brand, always trying to think of ways to become more environmentally friendly, while creating products that can be recycled and that use less plastic.
The Yogi Bare New Acupressure Body Mat Set is no exception and works with Safer Surfacing to recycle your over used yoga mat (when the time comes), to create surfaces like those in playgrounds, parks and gardens. So we know these yoga mats are sustainable, but what do they offer that’s different to the usual yoga mat?
As a keen yoga enthusiast, I was keen to test out the brand new mat set which priced at £49.95, offers to restore balance to the body’s energy flow and improve sleep and insomnia, stress and anxiety, energy and circulation along with other incredible benefits.
But if the truth be known, the Yogi Bare Acupressure Body Mat on the front of it, is a mat, with spikes! 210 pressure points to be exact. So to say I was apprehensive about the benefits was a slight understatement.
Sold with matching neck pillow, the ‘spikes’ should apply pressure to the various points of the body to restore balance by tapping in to the body’s meridians or ‘qi’ – energy flow.
Intrigued but sceptical, I committed to the using the mat daily for a week. It quickly and easily became part of my nightly routine – in fact it became more of a ritual with the lighting of candles, meditation music and laying on the mat with a blanket over me for 20 minutes each evening.
Lying down on the mat feels odd… Not painful, more of pain pleasure sensation with enjoyable tingles which reverberate through the body!
On night one I definitely slept better and woke up feeling more refreshed. As each night came and went, I felt my sleep improving, my relaxation increasing, and I was super impressed that the shoulder tension I usually suffer terribly from, seems to have completely disappeared.
I now look forward to my 20 minute ‘spike fest‘ before bed and the nightly ritual continues for me. For the price, the Yogi Bare Acupressure Mat is well made and comes in its own drawstring bag, keeping it handy but neat and tidy and out of the way. The bag also allows for easy carrying, so I can pack it with me on weekends that I’m travelling away.
A Yogi Acupressure convert, I’m sure there are many more benefits to come, but for now I’ll settle with improved energy levels and deeper relaxation. Buy your Yogi Acupressure Body Mat Set here, or if it’s not quite your thing, it’d make a great quirky gift for a yoga obsessed friend – imagine gifting them the best night’s sleep of their life?!
